Thursday 24th May saw us host a networking event with a competitive edge; a free evening of simulation racing whilst giving local businesses the opportunity to connect with other businesses.
There were around 30 guests in attendance, a mix of familiar and new faces, who came down to take part in the pre-selected ‘Brands Hatch’ Formula 1 race circuit. The evening started with a very short introduction to Innovate Creative and the services we offer, before John McMurray-Williams handed over to our long-standing customer and charity guest of the evening, Fiona Hardie of Social Care in Action (SCIA) Group.
Fiona explained all about the work SCIA do in the local area through their wide range of services; whether that be transporting the elderly to a local group, running CBT courses for those suffering with dementia, providing carers to go in and allow older people to live as independently as possible in their homes (one of the things that elderly people worry about most being moved from the house that they have grown up in, seen their children grow up in and latterly their grandchildren – so they provide services that ensure they stay there as long as they are physically able to), as well as services to help transition young adults who have reached the maximum age of being in the care system, to find homes for them, teach them key life skills and assist in getting them job-ready.
Once the selection of pizza’s had all been consumed, the heats in individual racing began. There were a number of heats before the ‘best’ six drivers were called up to take part in the final race of the evening. The night concluded with a podium presentation; first place was Kevin Stansfield from ActionCOACH, Adrian Frost from Cadnam Garage and our very own Stuart who was chuffed to return to the office with his third place trophy!
As well as helping to raise further awareness of SCIA’s charitable work, attendees generously donated to the fundraising bucket. Thank you!
