March 20th saw us host the Tillison Consulting Curry Business networking event at a new venue in Chandlers Ford. It was a fantastic turnout with almost 50 people in attendance – which was certainly one of the busiest that we had attended, which was great news!
Before the networking began and the three courses were served, there was a short introduction to the evening by John McMurray-Williams of Innovate Creative who introduced Keren Ben-Dor of Romsey Young Carers, our chosen charity for 2018.
Keren briefly talked of the work that they do in the local area and introduced us to a young carer who she had accompanied to the event. Kascey is a 13 year old carer who has been attending the charity since she was five years old, she told us “it is invaluable to get away from my carer responsibilities for a couple of hours in an evening or to be able to enjoy a day out with other young people in my situation. I have to be so grown up and older than my years but Romsey Young Carers give me the freedom to be a child again”
Aside from delicious curry dishes and accompaniments provided by The Hiltonbury Farmhouse, we raised almost £300 for the Romsey Young Carers through charity donations and sales of raffle tickets.
Keren got in touch to say “Thanks so much for a great night! Kascey had such an amazing time and to win a raffle prize was just the cherry on the cake. Her father told us she came in last night with the biggest smile on her face…it really says it all. We really appreciate your efforts and initiative”
We continue to fundraise for the Romsey Young Carers for the remainder of 2018. You can find out more and donate here.
